I happen to like oats, and it makes a great breakfast cereal with a little (note little) brown sugar and some milk (or water). At least for me, a bowl of oats is fairly filling, and apparently high in fibre. What is amazing is the size of reported blood pressure reductions, in just a few weeks…. 7.5 mm Hg reduction in SBP (P <.01) and a 5.5 mm Hg reduction in DBP and as added benefit improved cholesterol levels. Try it, you might like it. So, when I don’t have soup for breakfast, oats is often my backup meal. If you buy the raw rolled oats, they fairly inexpensive, and cook nicely in 1 to 2 minutes. Watch it, it tends to boil over — and make a big mess.
