(Medical News Today) On April 6, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first generic versions of two drugs used for the treatment of hypertension. Losartan potassium tablets and losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide tablets (a combination drug) are the generic equivalents of Cozaar and Hyzaar tablets, respectively.
Cozaar and Hyzaar tablets are widely-used antihypertensive drugs. Both generic losartan products will carry the same safety warnings as their brand counterparts. These warnings include a boxed warning against the use of these products during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Finally, it’s about time. Now to wait for availability!
I had a B.P reading of 135 over 68 and the nurse practituner put me on the ennapril that increased my B.P to 150 over 72 another Dr. Put me on Hydrochlorotizde that worked well, But I cannot get of the house Because I have to go and feel bad.
About when with Hyzaar become generic as I am going to go back on it.

A rose by any other name is still a rose; the thorns remain.
Are the generic versions(strength?) available in the Pharmacies; who are the manufcturers?
i’ve taken avapro and toprol xl for several years and still had a stroke
my stroke occurred after taking avapro AND toprolxl under the care of a neurologist and a internal medicine doctor.
I am looking for an equivalent to Atacand. I believe it is made by Astra Zeneca. It is not covered by Med. D. Will this be a generic that I can consider?
