Q: Should you take your blood pressure before you eat or after you eat? Does it make a difference when to take it?
A: There is no bad time to take your blood pressure. To make sense of blood pressure readings, it is good to take your pressure about the same time of day after similar activities. This way you can get a feel for how your blood pressure is doing on an average basis.
If you have to pee, pee first before taking pressure
Mine is always higher after eating.
Good Idea: measure blood pressure at the same time
during the day. Thank you !!
Thank you for good suggestion
My BP is lower after eating. Anyone know why that occurs?
if you use an application like HeartWise (this is for iPhone but there are others), you can record your BP anytime and it will track it over time. Then you can look at statistics like BP variation versus time of day. it also tracks your weight, so you can try to correlate your weight trend to BP trend over weeks or months.
remember also to sit quietly for 5 minutes before taking the BP reading. Most Dr’s offices sit you down throw on the cuff and say”you have hight BP” Make them wait 5 minutes and then have them take it.
Thank you for all the comments. Found them to be helpful.
