Q: Does taking Q10 lower the effects of hypertension medication?
A: It is possible that taking Co-enzyme Q10 may make blood pressure lowering drugs more effective. It may boost the effects of blood pressure medicine. To learn more about Co-enzyme Q10 go to this page on the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s site.

I don’t think this question was answered properly, the person was asking whether Q10 lower the EFFECTS of blood pressure medicine, not increase the effects…
I think it is fairly obvious in the Doctor’s answer that by lowering the effects of blood pressure medicine, Q10 does not increase the effects. One precludes the other.
I have to disagree with you Doug. I think the answer was VERY GOOD in that it answered the question TWIC [“…may make blood pressure lowering drugs MORE effective. It MAY BOOST the effects of blood pressure medication.”
I suspect that IF it LOWERED the effectiveness, the Doctor would have said so.
Thank you. For a moment I thought I had lost my comprehension skills, but it was the other guy. 🙂
We can guess about the doctor’s answer…….but really, I doubt that the doctor really knows much about it. The AMA is the absolute last to get on board a good supplement not manufactured by Pfizer or Merck!
COq10 is helpful with heart and circulatory health. It is even more important for patients who have been duped into taking the statin drugs when the natural supplements, red yeast rice, niacin, and policosanol, are as or more effective than the toxic statins.
All the best!!
