Q: My BP runs in the 135-140 over 65-70 range, systolic has wide variance of 115 to 165. I am currently on 100mg atenolol and 160 mg Diovan. I have been using Resperate for about 2 months and have just started walking, getting heart rate up to 100+ for 30 min a day. I am 72 years old. Can I reasonably expect to ever eliminate or significantly cut down on BP meds?
A: Yes, with continued regular exercise and use of the Resperate you can expect to either lower the dose or discontinue some of your medication. It doesn’t matter how old your or how sick you are, regular exercise helps.

I have been taking Norvasc for about 10 or more years, since it first came on the market. I started with 5 mg. per day and went to 10 mg. in the last few years. It works well for me, keeps my BP down, no other side effects except my ankles swell if I’m on my feet too long. For 1 month I tried Lisinopril and it raised my BP to 160/110, so my doctor put me back on Norvasc. Are there any studies of the long-term side effects of Norvasc and its generic?
Thank you
You have good diastolic and systolic 135-140 and you are taking 160 mg Diovan +atenolol???
Change you doctor ASAP.!!!
You need a new doctor so that you can lower or eliminate your meds. Make sure you are good weight, exercise and use the Resperate and eat loads of fresh raw fruits and veggies and cut out the animal fats.
I have the same problem with Norvasc in that my ankles swell sometimes the whole foot. I have used Norvasc for the past 10 years from 5mg to 10 mg in addition to Antacand plus among other drugs. The effect is impotence and feeling sleepy most of the time need help here
Resperate is not the answer for everyone as I returned mine because I used it for almost 30 days and everytime I did my blood pressure went to 180/102 or in th 200’s over the 100s. Wthout resperate it stays in the 140-145/54-69 range with the meds I use. I can drop it lower with slow regular breathing on my own but not with the resperate.
Joan: It is my thought that you were not using Resperate correctly. I don’t know anyone that wasn’t helped by Resperate. I have been using it for over two years and it is keeping my blood pressure low. I am taking no medications and plan on keeping it that way. You cannot lower your blood pressure by “slow regular breathing” on your own as you described. That would take effort and that would keep your pressure high. With the Resperate, there is no “effort” – just naturally controlled breathing. Also, along with using the Resperate, you would also have to watch what you eat, your salt intake and exercise. I work out at the local gym five days a week. I would do anything else I needed to do to ensure that I don’t have to start and continue with medication. With Resperate I don’t have any side-effects, just the feeling of complete relaxation and the knowledge that I am being proactive in helping myself, not depending on drugs to do it.
If you have ever done yoga you would know that you can lower your blood pressure by slow regular breathing on your own. You sound like you work for the company that sells Resperate.
