Q: How do I slow my fast pulse? I eat healthy & exercise. I also suffer from daily dizzy spells. Do you think it’s the fast pulse?
A: Pulse is related to activity level. With less activity, your pulse should be slower. Resting pulse is usually lower in people who have a regular exercise program. Your dizzy spells could be related to your heart rate. People with the common irregular heart beat known as atrial fibrillation often complain of a fast heart rate and dizziness. You need to be evaluated by a health care provider.
To learn more about atrial fibrillation go to this article at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute site.
Diet and exercise are a good start. Perhaps meditation and relaxation techniques would help, also. The key might be to discover what it is that is causing your increased pulse. Is it anxiety or something physiological. Just a thought for you.
All the best!!
“Pulse is related to activity level” Really? The only factor? So it’s “all in my head” when I get a dose of MSG in some food where I didn’t expect it and my pulse soars?
Although I’m a medical layman, at 69 yoa I’ve done a LOT of reading, AND OBSERVING.
Although I do NOT disagree with the Doctor’s answer, OR with the commenter answers, I SEEMS to me that IF medication(s) DROP the BP enough, then that could cause the dizzyness, AND the body in trying to compensate, would INCREASE THE PULSE RATE!!!!!!
Could not this be a possibility?
It sure sounds LOGICAL to me!
What is your pulse rate?
I get a rapid pulse if I eat bread or anything with Wheat/gluten in it. Its a well know fact that any kind of intolerance can cause a rapid pulse. Check what you are eating or drinking beforehand. Hope this helps.
Cut down the coffee, booze, stop smoking and regular exercise,, half hour walk /cycle a day helps to get it to around 60 resting.
I think Dr. Rowena is correct. You need to be evaluated by your physician.
