A: Lisinopril is a type of high blood pressure medicine known as an angiotension converting enzyme inhibitor or ACE inhibitor. Breast pain, not increased size, has been associated with Lisinopril use. Breast growth in males can be caused by the use of the high blood pressure medicines known as calcium channel blockers. Herbal and other supplements and use of street drugs also can cause breast growth. The main concern from the increase of breast size is cosmetic.

Well, most doctors would say these are ‘minor’ side effects and the benefits of blood pressure medication outweigh these side effects. If an OTC herbal drug would cause these cosmetic side effects it would be withdrawn from the market.
As usual, I believe there are people who really need to take blood pressure medication and will have to put up with the side effects. But, everything possible ought to be done by drug manufacturers to do more research in order to reduce or eliminate these side effects, or more effort and research put in to try to find a real ‘cure’ for high blood pressure and not just produce more drugs. Also, doctors must take patients’ complaints and concerns more seriously.
Herbs DO NOT cause breast growth in men! They are the safest med you can take.
I have been on a calcium channel blocker for many years & I do have enlarged breasts. If I stop taking the medication will my breast size decrease?
Street drugs, Doc what are talking about, where’s your expertise there. Herbal medications are some of the best and there are studies on that. Besides male breasts are a sign of ageing and or possible lack of activity. Exercise regularly use herbal if you can and watch the pill pushers.
I’ve heard some people complain about a”cough”, low grade,while on Lisinopril. Is there any truth to this side effect?
