Stopping medications for a period of time and then starting again.

Q: I had skipped my BP prescription for a week. I am on Persantin 200mg twice daily. I restarted my intake 4 days ago but have been experiencing spells of severe headaches. What could be wrong?

A: Call your doctor. Headaches while on this medicine can be serious. Persantin is a drug that helps prevent blood clots. I do not consider this medicine a blood pressure lowering medication. I suspect your doctor is treating a different problem. You need to get a better explanation of your healthcare needs from your doctor. yes it is not WISE to stop any med given to you without consulting your doctor
