Q: I am taking alginal a sea based dirivitive. It shoots down my high blood pressure from 172 to 97, but my pulse rates goes to 104. Should I be concerned? thank you
A: I assume you are talking about alginates. They come from brown algae in seaweed. Various forms are used both medically and in food products. The source and processing of the seaweed can affect quality. It sounds like you taking too much or are having a bad reaction to taking the form you are taking. Your blood pressure is dropping so much your heart speeds up to keep blood to your brain. To learn more about alginates go to this page on Wikipedia.com.
Is there not a misprint – should it not read “pulse rate too high”? I use a rowing machine connected to a heart rate monitor for cardio health and it takes me several minutes exercise before I can get from around 60 to over 100 bpm. If 104 is considered “low” then your correspondent is not the only one that is “concerned”!
Yes it should. A resting heart rate of 104 is high.
What your heart rate should be for maximum benefit during exercise depends on your age, health and what medicines you are taking.
You should discuss this with your doctor.
Well heck, just about anyhting is possible when it comes to Blood pressure and pulse rate I found out over the years. I’ve seen some crazy things happen in my own situation.
Interesting, I never knew about alginates, will look into this.
