Q: What is the relationship between consuming eggs and hypertension? Will eating eggs regularly increase bp?
A: Eggs have gotten a bad reputation. Recent studies are suggesting that egg consumption might help lower blood pressure. Eggs are a good source of protein and are low in fat. To learn more go to http://www.incredibleegg.org/
I have been wondering for years to get a website with a low down on eggs! I’ll start eating eggs again – but in moderation….
Yahoooo !!! Eggs ? Bring’em on…
I am on Atenolol and Lisinopril but my BP is still high especially in morning. My heart is slightly enlarged and I worry about this constantly. I’m an unemployed 61 yr old without health insurance and cant afford Resperate although I deperately need it.I havee a pharmacy discount card and was wondering if I could use this to get a discounted price on Resperate.
Thanks
Check your thyroid. Make magnesium citrate. Use daily breathing exercise by Buteiko (or Byteiko) – googling
I would have to agree with Nick about the benefits of plant based nutrition. I switched to this type of diet recently and was able to get off my meds and BP normalized. Since you are unemployed on a limited income, a plant based diet is probably one of the least expensive and single best things you can do for your health.
I will be happy to help offset the discount you are expecting should the pharmacy discount card does not apply. By the way there are refurbished sets @ $199.00
I am not a doctor however the duretic hydrochlorothiazide is inexpensive. Its natural for bp to rise in the morning.
What I do is pull the 12.5 (small dose)capsule apart and put a little less than half in a glass of water, stir and drink. This brings my bp down quicker than if I swallowed the capsule. I re-assemble what is left and take the capsule before bed about four hours after taking my diovan. Everyone is different. Deep yoga style breathing is comparable to resperate in my opinion, however it takes practice and a bp cuff to check it.
I say go natural with fruits & veggies in a juicing machine, also check out GARDENVALLEYWELLNESS CENTER.COM ,also if you can find a all natural store with BELL products.
I was led to believe through this newsletter that, NHS after doing studies on Resperate, you could get it on prescription, you could download this from newsletter to take to your doctor. Hope this will be of help.
Eggs are very high in cholesterol and are animal protein based and therefore contribute to atherosclerosis which is a building block for coronary disease of which HBP is a risk factor. Eat with caution.
Nick, please do some more research before espousing myths. The cholesterol con/myth is the greatest of our generation.
Start here and educate yourself: http://high-fat-nutrition.blogspot.com/
Acutally it isn’t. Please read the studies conducted by Dr. Esselstyn on preventing and reversing heart disease. Those who consume plant based diets have lower cholesterol and BP.
Please don’t spread faulty information. You are really off track.
It is firmly established that dietary cholesterol has very little effect on blood cholesterol. High blood cholesterol is produced by liver. Actually, in many cases consuming cholesterol in the diet may make liver produce less cholesterol, thus lowering blood cholesterol.
It’s time to get rid of the dietary cholesterol myth.
Gosh. If that is the case, I wonder how the human race survived so long. And how my relatives lived into their 90s eating eggs daily. And how I have such low cholesterol eating them, fried with cheese and peppers every day nearly. I also eat butter. Far better than margarine. SUGAR makes cholesterol. So does smoking…It’s not what’s natural, it’s all the other added stuff that’s bad for you.
Sounds like you and I just got lucky with our good cholesterol counts. Some people just seem to inherit a good cholesterol clearing mechanism I think. I still consume eggs, meat and dairy sparingly though. For folks with high cholesterol, it’s probably even more crucial though.
For those of us who like protein in our diets for other reasons, eggs are a pretty good form to get it in. Butter is a short chain trygliceride that is much better for you than any hydrogenated fat vegetable margarine.
Refined sugar? High fructose corn syrup? Probably two of the worst things we can possibly put in our bodies.
All the best!!
I have those bad parents too and geardpanrnts etc all of them gave me the high cholesterol. I work out and eat fairly healthy but the number didn’t come down without the lipator. I figure, 2 grandfathers died of heart attacks in their 50’s, grandmothers and mom have all had strokes that I will take my chances with the lipator. I was switch to a statin because of the cost of lipator and had such horrible muscle pains I couldn’t walk must less run! Went back to the lipator.
Moderation, Moderation, Moderation
Eggs are rich in natural lecithin which more than counters cholesterol issues. cholesterol is an indicator of a body health issue like lack of B6 in the Krebs cycle etc and less and issue of food. nevertheless food can contribute but eggs are at the bottom of the list of worries and can be excellent brain food.
I did a workout program that came with a meal plan. On the meal plan we ate 15-20 egg whites a week and about 3-7 whole eggs. This was the lowest my blood pressure, weight and body fat has been in 20 years. Eggs also digest slower, therefore you eat less. Eggs are the bomb.
Did you get a before and after lipid blood test as well?
Actually the theory that eating high cholesterol foods will give you high cholesterol is looking pretty shaky these days. Evn the AHA has decided to take the stigma off eggs. Te liver makes most of the cholesterol that finds its way into your bloodstream. Only about 20% of blood cholesterol is from the food we eat. Cutting down on sugar, grains, vespecially processed grains and quickly metabolized carbs will do far more for lowering so called bad cholesterol than stopping everything that contains it. Cholesterol is in every cel of the body- without it you’d be dead. Tere is in truth neither bad nor good chesterol, but the lipids that carry it are small and large sized,. Te large sized LDL are considered bad because in certain situations they can stick to the artery wall. But they only stick to areas where there is already inflammation. Tey do not cause the inflammation. If you lower inflammation in your body by eating an alkaline diet, avoiding sugar (includes fructose so don’t overdo the fruit and no sodas,), alcohol, processed flours and other agents of inflammation, you can lower your risk of arteriosclerosis. There is a test for inflammation called the C reactive protein. If it is low, you are low risk for this disease. That doesn’t mean you should’ nt think about diet and exercise.- its probably low because you already are! A a further note, having high LDL doesn’t necessarily mean you going to have a heart attack. It turns out there are different kinds of LDL, dense and buoyant. If the LDL is buyant, it will not stick to the artery walls and will make its way back to the liver to be recycled. However, if it is sticky it can be a problem. Get the VAP cholesterol test for a more complete picture. And if your ratio of hdl to total cholesterol is 25% or higher, you’re in good shape no matter how scary that total number seems to you and yor doc. Theres a Lot more to say on this subject , but bottom line is, eat your eggs. They are high in EFAs and a very good source of protein.
this was so informative thank you I just got the results of my cholesterol test done yesterday, and looks like I will go for some more test TU
I have good levels of LDL and hdl ! My problem is a high crp number for that blood test! What do you suggest? I already drink alkaline water and eat an alkaline diet!
High CRP implies high inflammation in the body. A sensible plant based diet is an anti-inflammatory diet as well. You might also consider a Mediterranean type diet or Pan Asian diet.
You are indeed correct. It is mostly a genetic trait.
Intersting to me, however, are the most recent major studies that debunk the whole cholesterol fear craze!!
All the best!!
Studies have shown that diet and lifestyle changes can turn off genetic influences. The effect of diet on genes is termed “nutrigenomics” It’s not all in your genes. Genes load the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger.
No one should ever eat a hot dog, antyhing from Mcwhatever, BK et al. 7 years ago I had cholesterol above 180 and high blood pressure (160/100) even though I ran 30 miles per week. I eschewed the drugs, radically changed my diet (10-12 servings of fruit and veggies daily) and wala, cholestrol 130, BP 120/80 and I lost 15lbs and qualified for Boston. Our American diets are horrible and not that hard to correct.
Thanks for this information. I would start eating eggs but this time in moderation.
Once again, thanks.
Hi Lekeisha,It is recommended that you do the SWF to cleanse your entire colon; however, if you absolutely cannot get it down, you can use the herbal laxative in place of the uniodized sea salt.
A few eggs per week are probably OK if you don’t have high cholesterol, otherwise it’s best to avoid.
I’ve also heard doctors recommend that if you are to consume eggs that they be DHA enriched to gain the most Omega-3 benefits.
a friend of mine ,who at 70 and had all kinds of problems ,heart ,liver and skin cancer – but eat his EGGS – 4 eggs per day , from rich hens ,who has roosters around -potent eggs not the grocery kind .
he died but not of heart attack at 79 . told me ,in 1999 that one day, these same nutritionists will say, there is something in these EGGS ,that is GOOD for your heart and health – i guarantee it because i am living because even though my artries are closed ,chlosteral is highest 280 + but i am chugging along on EGGS – kudos to new research , EGGS and WHISKEY dont hurt no man .
Eggs are good for you, of course everything in moderaion. The thing i have most recently found out is much more shocking than the eggs. While doing some research I came across an article about a recent publication on the FDA addmitting that chickens are fed arsenic so as to curb lice on the chickens, something like that anyhow these chickens that we are eating is laced with arsenic through the feeding of the animals, my guess is the eggs are full of arsenic as well, it seems like we can’t win people….check it out for you self. cheers
I find it interesting that hardly anyone mentions HDL when talking about cholesterol levels.
My problem is a very low HDL count. So what happens is LDL carries lipids to my body from my liver but there isn’t enough HDL to take any excess back to the liver. This is probably why I have arterial problems. When I checked this with the professional he told me that unfortunately there is not much they can do to correct this.
It is made worse by the fact that the statin that I take actually reduces the HDL as well as the LDL.
I have been told that exercise increases HDL.
The path I have followed is to take Argenix which has done a tremendous job for me in improving the health of my arteries.
Thanks everybody for the posts.
Derek, I’ve also heard exercise increases HDL levels. Supposedly fish oil does also. I take 2000mg per day. I need to get my lipids tested again soon do I’ll find out if it helps or not. Supposedly the main target for cholesterol is having the total <150 to prevent cardiovascular disease.
I agree with you Jane.
From a technical perspective the added cholesterol from the eggs may perhaps increase blood cholesterol thereby increasing plaque formation in the arteries. More plaque translates to more narrowing of the arteries thereby increasing atherosclerosis and increasing the possibility of hypertension. That’s my diagnosis but heck I ain’t no doctor either!
Some people are genetically at risk for high cholesterol. At least that’s what I was told by my doctor. My triglycerides have been very high the last 5 years. I am also overweight by 50 lbs. My doctor put me first on Lipitor years before, but I had very bad muscle cramps and other side effects. I was then put on Crestor, which also caused side effects, including severe stomach cramping. The day I experienced the severe stomach cramps was when I noticed blood in my mouth. I immediately called my doctor and he acted as though he didn’t believe me. I told him from that point on, that I won’t take any more meds for high cholesterol. He suggested an over the counter medicine called Cholest-Off. I don’t seem to have any problems with this, although it’s not prescription strength. I haven’t had any blood work yet to determine if it’s helping. Anyway, my doctor and I both agree that exercise and losing at least 20 llbs., will bring my cholesterol down. I do eat eggs, but only occasionally. I like omelets, and usually eat two eggs, by mixing one whole egg and one egg white. I’m still confused about this cholesterol thing. I love seafood and that is loaded with cholesterol, but I’ve read that it’s not a bad cholesterol, like in eating too much meat. Of course with anything, moderation and portion size is essential. More veggies and and smaller portions of seafood, meat, etc.
I too had the muscle effects from all the statin medications. Have been using Zetia for 4 yrs plus. Does not work as well as the statins, but still dropped 60 – 100 points off my total count. The variation is dependant on how well I behave myself when it come to the dinner table and snacks. I have not noticed any side effects from the Zetia which I believe is a non statin.
I’m 39 I’ve been suffering from hypertension which began during my second pregnancy and it’s been 7 years since I’m taking Blokium Diu. Last mont during a routine blood test I’ve discovered that my cholesterol has increased to 5.4. So is it advisable to eat egg in this corcumstances?
I’m on blood pressure medication but sometimes my heart starts racing and I feel my pressure is up but it’s not, what do you think that is?
Here is one to consider. I rely largely on c-reactive protein and homocysteine levels, as well as blood levels of vitamin D to get a better feel for disease risk, including heart disease.
The latest major study published in Lancet in Britain strongly suggests that the focus on cholesterol is largely misplaced. Cholesterol is actually a good substance in your blood unless it is oxidized and becomes a free radical. Taking lots of anti-oxidants helps keep cholesterol healthy.
Your cholesterol is what it is based on genetics, and it is NOT the all-important indicator of heart disease that the AMA and Big Pharma have led us to believe!

Why is everybody so upset. I have high colesterol. I have had it for a long time. My whole family had it.The doctors try to get me on those pills. I keep saying NO. They try to scare U in every way. My colesterol does not scare me. Everyone in my family had colesterol problems. They even took pills for it. Guess what none of them died of colesterol problems. Keep your weight down eat good food.Stay away from fry foods. Eat lots of fish & chicken bake, broil, boiled.Eat in moderation. Eat only when hungry. No junk foods. And U will be just fine. I’m 72 & I’m fine. God Bless.
