Q: I am on Sular,Metatoprol XL(both generic) and Diovan, I am having trouble losing weight after a 80 lb drop, my fitness is much improved and working out and jogging several times a week, Can any of these meds hinder weight loss?
A: Weight gain has been reported as a side effect of metaprolol (generic). The brand names of this drug are Toprol XL and Lopressor. You have lost an impressive amount of weight. Congratulations.
Metatoprol XL tends to harm your fitness efforts and has other undesirable side effects.
Doing the Resperate for 20 minutes or Tai Chi for 10 minutes most days of every week are each proven to lower high blood pressure and to keep the effects of upsets from spiking your blood pressure or persisting. The do without harmful side effects what the Metatoprol XL is supposed to do.
Exchanging one of them for the Metatoprol XL will enable you to keep your fitness and fat loss.
And an 80 pound fat loss IS great news for your health.
Congrats!
Does tenorectic affect weight loss?
What are the other side effects of Metatoprol XL? My doctor never believes me when I say I think my meds have side effects.
I have been on two different blood pressure meds for years,
Continued- I recently started back going to the gym, which is a good thing, during one session of a Boot camp workout I passed out…It seems like I got dizzy and lightheaded and down I went. My doctor seems to think that my pressure dropped to low or because I did not eat but one meal that day a salad, I had no energy. I was so embarrassed. I still attend the gym just at my own pase.
I am SICK of the weight gain from HBP meds & I have been thru all the drug classes for it…….Some are worse than others esp. with the side effects and some people are MORE sensitive to side effect then the doctors believe. I have had it out several times with my cardiologist & primary about switching the meds……..they just don’t get it…..the ‘prescriptions’ are ruining the quality of life , not the “disease”
