I think I have tried every kind of BP meds that exist. All of them had side effects that were unacceptable. I am one of those people who gets every side effect that there is. My doctor got so frustrated with me that he gave up. So I started doing my homework.
To make a long story short I went from 160/90 to an average 125/77 by using Resperate twice a day, Hesperidin 1/2 cap am 1/2 cap PM & Hibiscis tea at 5PM and 10PM. I monitor my BP from home every day. It works great for me with no side effects. Hope it helps you also.
5 IMPORTANT CAUSES OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
1.MENTAL WORRIES
2.HIGH SALT INTAKE
3.HIGH LIPID DIET
4.HIGH SUGAR DIET
5.ANY KIDNEY DISEASE(SPECIALLY STONE)
MENTAL RELAXATION WILL PLAY AN IMP ROLE IN CONTROLLING HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.
The percentage of people in the population who are salt sensitive is a lot smaller than most people think. Sugar is the culprit that doctors are way behind on.
Just sayin……
I absolutely agree with this statement. For years the medical profession has been preaching a low sodium diet as the first defense against hypertension. From my own personal experience, sodium intake had little effect on my BP. The current thought is that insulin resistance and hypertension are closely linked which probably explains why so many diabetics also have hypertension.
Hello Dr. Yahya,
I find it interesting to see mental worries as the number one reason for high blood pressure. It truly comes as no surprise, whatsoever. I honestly believe it to be the #1 cause for more people than may have the self awareness to realize it.
I used to have such worry and anxiety around my blood pressure; and this was unwittingly (I am sure) being contributed to by my doctor’s attitudes, the grim environment of her office, the naive way of handling patients regarding the proper approach to taking BP measurements and numerous other factors.
Mr. doctor tried several different medications and nothing worked very well, in spite of switching me from one med to another, increasing dosage, doubling me up on types of meds. etc. The one treatment that never occurred, however, was that there was no two-way functioning communication. Her listening skills seemed to be pre-programmed and filtered in favor of her step-by-step standardized agenda.
The result was that I would go in for an office call already feeling apprehensive; not solely about having my BP taken, but in anticipation of the interaction that would result with this person. I always felt as though I failed when I would go in and be treated by her like a “bad dog,” because my BP would be so high.
Well, I guess it was a case of: ” The beatings will continue until morale improves!”
When a doctor has neither the courage nor presence of mind to approach each patient with open mind, heart and ears, they are ill-equipped to call themselves
“physician.”
I am being my own physician now, in that as I select support people to be on my healthcare team; it is crucial that they share goals for my remaining well in areas where I am well, and support my body’s healing processes in areas where my health needs to improve and expand. I will accept no physician that has no time to truly listen to me and respect what I have to say. I will accept no physician who practices with skepticism and the hopeless position that “You will have this condition, (or) you must take this drug for the rest of your life – you will never truly be we again.”
The human organism is an infinitely dynamic and complicated ever-evolving combination of biological/physical/chemical states, and behavioral/psychological/emotional states recombining in any number of ways being heavily influenced and governed by what is contained in our human/divine spirit. I see any and all of these factors at play and resulting in an unlimited array of physical states of wellness or illness.
This is my personal concept of the experience of being a human being. This explains to me, why we must take a wholistic and integrated approach to managing our own health care. We must hire those who support our objectives in a way that creates a successful outcome. We must also have the courage to dismiss and let go of practitioners that don’t acknowledge/respect our sacred position of being the ultimate manager of our own health welfare.
I profoundly believe that there ultimately is a blessing contained in every curse that comes into our human experience. I know this to be true relating directly to my difficulties with the abyss of hypertension. I have been given an opportunity through exploring this HBP challenge, to re-asses how I view my own responsibility and rediscover my own position of power and autonomy in owning a life of health, balance, peace and purpose.
There are doctors who will help me gain my objectives and care enough about me as a fellow human being to listen to my words and have respect for them.
Bottom line: my blood pressure is going down gradually and every day, I am in some measurable way, closer to total health and wellness!
Mental worries are a much larger factor than I used to think.
Health, balance, peace and purpose to you!
This is in stark contrast to a previous article which stated stress had no impact on BP. In this case Mental Worries = Stress. My intuition tells me that stress has a particularly strong effect on one’s BP.
Indubitably!
My experiences have been the same as yours, but I am not having success finding a doctor who does not believe in just upping the meds. I was told by a nurse that the size of the cuff and resting of the arm was important …doctor would not listen. Still glad to hear your success.
I feel like my high blood pressure is all mental stress and anxiety! I have been on several meds through the yrs. I also feel I get many of the side effects! I wish so badly to get off these meds!! I am on 25 mg toprol xl. Any suggestions? I have been trying to eat very healthy. Fruits and veggies. Low
Salt. Exercise! I am a worrier and one of those people who dont know how to relax. I’m always on the go!
