Could Chest Infections Be a Side Effect of Ramiprill?

Q: I have taken Ramiprill 5mg for two years now. Apart from the weight gain I’m ok on it but since i started with this drug i keep having chest infections e.g. bronchitis. Could Ramiprill be causing this?

A: It is possible Ramipril has suppressed your immune system. This is a rare occurrence but it has been reported with this drug. You should discuss the further with your doctor and have your blood cell count checked.

Yes.

The negative side effects of drugs are always understated by the manufacturers.

I have chronic bronchitis, after taking ramipril for over 2 yrs. I never smoked, and am healthy for 60, but for the bronchitis. I have been on lavartan for 6 months, and the chronic b, has lessened…I pray for a clean recovery.
