Q: After 3 sinus surgeries, I continue to have an inflammation in the sinus. I have been told the ongoing inflammation contributes to hardening of the arteries. How can I eliminate the sinus inflammation and/or reverse the hardening of the arteries?
A: Chronic infection has been linked with the development of atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Since you have had multiple surgeries to correct your problem, I am assuming you have been evaluated and treated for any underlying allergies. If you haven’t done so, talk to your doctor about preventive measures that might help such as smoke avoidance, frequent hand washing, early use of nasal decongestants with colds, flu shots, etc.
