Q: Will RESPeRATE help with PSVT’s (rapid heart rate)? How high of a heart rate can it accurately measure? I have to try to bring my heart rate down when I have an SVT. I tried medication for my SVT’s but it dropped my heart rate too low.
A: Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) occurs when the upper chambers of the heart stimulate the heart to beat excessively fast. The RESPeRATE does not measure heart rate. It works to lower blood pressure by slowing the rate of breathing and prolonging expiration. There is a link between breathing and heart rate. You should discuss your PSVT treatment regimen with your physician.
