Q: I was taking Adalat 60 for 5 years and my blood pressure was perfect. Then my ankles started to look like rope had been tied around them. My doctor has tried many other HBP pills but none seem to control it like Adalat 60. I am 68 years old and still working. Is there anything you can suggest?
A: Adalat can certainly cause swelling but you were taking Adalat for 5 years without a problem. Something has changed. You need to talk to your doctor about what is different. Make sure your doctor hasn’t just assumed that the Adalat is causing your ankle swelling. Congestive heart failure or varicose veins are two relatively common problems that could be the cause of swelling.
