Venues Everywhere for Easy Results
(The Press and Journal) — BLOOD pressure checks are to be offered throughout the north-east as part of a week aimed at encouraging people to have their blood pressure checked.
Almost 1,400 testing stations are being held nationwide, with venues in high streets and supermarket pharmacies, shopping centres, markets and sports centres.
Mike Rich, executive director of UK charity the Blood Pressure Association, said: “One in three UK adults have high blood pressure, yet only a quarter know their blood pressure numbers.
“This ignorance is causing death and disability so that’s why we’re asking the UK public: Are you gambling with your health?
“We want everyone to lower their odds of stroke and heart attack by having their free blood pressure check this Know your Numbers Week.
