Q: I have been using Resperate for approx 6yrs now and it has worked well, however over the last three months or so my bp has started creeping up (160/100). Does this mean my body has now got used to Resperate and not being effective or could there be another reason?
A: My guess is that your body has changed over the six years you have been using the Resperate.
You should see you doctor and be evaluated. You may have developed diabetes or another condition that is related to your blood pressure change. It is also possible you have gained some weight and exercise less. Sadly many people become more sedentary and gain weight as they get older.

I keep getting swelling of my lips and face and I don`t know why this id happening of late. I have been on Ramipril,10 mg and now I have been taking Losartan 25 mg. Twice within 2 weeks I woke up with a very bad scull pain and swollen lips and the half of my face. Does taking Iboprofen and anti- histamine tablets and or nettle tea has any adverse effect on me….??I have got some allergy to something but I don`t know what it is yet…!! Can anybody say something about it??
It sounds like you really need to see your doctor fast. If you are having head pains, that could be very serious.
I think I should. At present, the most of the swelling has gone down, after having taken anti-histamine pills. But I am still anxious ..!! Thank for your reply. Have you had any experience of this or do you know anyone who has had it??
I have not had the swelling issue. But I know that these anti-histamines can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. If you have headaches too it could potentially be a serious combination. I hope you can get to your doctor soon. Good luck!
Or it could be you have been under more stress than usual. As your body ages your stress hormones (I can’t recall the medical names for thes hormones)decreasess and unable to do their job as they used to. I know my blood pressure goes up during times of stress and I can’t handle stress as good as I did when I was younger. Glad to hear resperate works for you. It didn’t work for me. The wire plug in my ears and the belt and trying to follow the music at the same time made me nervous and my blood pressure actually went up while I was hooked up. Im hoping they will invent one without all the hook up . LOL
I agree it is a pain to get hooked up, but I did get used to it and dont mind anymore. I was also nervous at the start, but eventually Resperate started to work. I hope this continues. I also wwould like a Resperate with out the hookup, but cant imagine that happening.
Has any one looked into asking for a larger blood pressure cuff. this also worked for me. In Drs. office I am very high, but having a weekly check by a nurse who used the larger cuff I am almost normal while on 100 Losarten.
Good luck.
I have been switching back & forth with the type of blood pressure meds that increase your blood vessles. I am now taking Losartan Potassium 50 mg with a separate diuretic. My eyes are always swollen and I already have dry eye syndrome. What would be recommended to someone that is sensitive to all meds?
I have been switched so many times, that I am hesitant to try any new med. I am only on Losarten until that stops working or gives me symptoms. Right now I get dizzy since on Losarten, but I am looking for a doctor that practices holistic medecine and will get meoff all meds but I will continue with Resperate. I cannot take any diuretic . my eyes were so dry that i saw only gray out the sides of my eyes.
I am hoping that with diet & exercise I will get off. Hope you find a solution. Good luck.
Resperate made me agitated at first (not good for blood pressure).
Try turning off the voice instructions and just listen to the music, try to breathe calmly and relax on the outbreath.
I’ve had my Resperate for 1 year now and have seen some improvement.
resperate is a helper for me,but my bp has recently gone down more. i started grapeseed ext 100 mg caps 2-3 x/day, and bp has been 123/72 and sys even lower! tho also have been drinking kombuchu bottled drink, which is vinegary ish, and very tasty. so not sure; i exercise w/ at least 30 min[ often 3x that] a day strong walk or lawn mowing, gym 3x/wk: wghts, bike, swim, and i eat a strong veggie fruit diet, tho am not veggie, and do low/no salt mostly.nothing has done as much for bp as the recent cpl of days readings. so grapeseed ext and kombuchi tea drink is what i am thinking did it. Kowalski’s lower bp bk is what i am looking at. he has 5 bp big guns: arginine, grapeseed ext, chocolate and 2 others i’m blanking on. i do eat good dk xhox also;-)) prob too much of it. my wght still needs that perpetual 5 pounds to go, or a smidge more.
