Q: Do you know of any connection between high blood pressure and hemochromatosis?
A: Hemochromatosis is a disease that causes the body to get too much iron. This disease can be inherited or caused by other medical problems. Untreated hemochromatosis can cause high blood pressure and heart disease.

I have high iron – cause unknown and have had genetic testing….go give blood – I do it every 5o something days – as much as allowed. Helps. CoQ10 and magnesium and fish oil too.
I have genetic hemochromtomsis was tested a couple of years agoafter my mother was finally told she had it in the 70’s and my father died young at 59 of heart failure both my brother and me have it so we have inherited a gene from each parent.
It is very serious if goes undetected and can cause all sorts of health problems my mother is testament to that I just think not enough health professionals know about it and not take it seriously enough and are relutant to spend the money on the genetic tests.
Ten years agao I had dangerously high blood pressure at the age of 45 (earlier than my parents)that high that I was hospitalised 240/120 and have been on medication very since only beta blockers atenthol
I now suspect knowing that I do that in some way my hemochromotosis was to blame. For a year now I have been receiving venesection and my blood pressure has dropped further with no added medication thankgoodnes as reading yoru article on atenthol I would really like to be free of it however I think my body is now so use to it.
