Q: I am 73, trim, a vegan and exercise. My blood pressure is extremely variable – in one day going from 190/92 to 167/83 to 135/65. I am taking 5 different pills that don’t seem to help. I have been told that since my BP does stay high I have nothing to worry about. However, I have just read 3 studies by doctors that say variability can be more dangerous for stroke or heart attack than a consistent high BP. They suggest a stabilizing drug. What is your opinion about variable BP?
A: Current medical thinking is that variable high blood pressure puts you at risk for a heart attack and stroke. You might want to discuss getting into better control with your doctor.

Seems excessive to me.
Try water pill Diovan HC
You could try Mukta Vati. It is an Ayurvedic Medicine with no side effects and good results. It is mainly available in India but must be having outlets in other countries as well…
Is this a “natural remedy with no side effects?
Have you given a thought that taking “5 different” pills may the cause?
Wean off these pills (slowly) and start over.
Be careful with blood pressure meds.. they raise some peoples pressure. taken together.. I know; I was put in the hosp 3 times,, I realized it was the medication the Drs would never admit that!
What I feel is so upsetting about reading these stories is that doctors appear to not want to know you anymore if or when you report too many nasty side-effects. I understand that there are people who really need medication, but I just can’t understand that one would need 5 to treat high BP and may add even more if BP becomes resistant. It may be what Barbara Black said, it really may be the quantity of different drugs that cause all these problems. It is really a shot-gun approach. One may work, or may be not, so a few others are added and nobody knows which one did the trick, if it does. My mom was on a cocktail of drugs and was unwell most days until a young doctor suggested to take her slowly off the meds. She still needed to take a few pills, but nowhere near as many as before.
Having said that, I don’t think it is a good idea to wean yourself of that many tablets without doctor’s assistance (which he/she may not agree with though). But it seems to me that something is not quite right with the high BP fluctiation.
I have been able to drop down to one medication using low or no added salt. Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s book Eat to Live (vegan) was a help. See drfuhrman.com
In my case salt sensitivity seems to be a big problem. You need to go way down beyond the standard 1500 mg per day. It takes awhile to get used to it. Find a doctor who is open to more natural remedies and go off gradually. And, of course, Respirate.
find a good doctor who will wean you off the ridiculous amount of bp meds you are taking & start you over on a healthy path
Try Dovan HC160mg/12.5mg
If you have Gout, do NOT take a BP med that is a diuretic. The next day you will have cramping in your legs and feet and then finally a Gout attack. I have it listed in ALL of my files locally and at Mayo Clinic/hospitals that I am NEVER to be given a diuretic. Don’t want to be unable to talk and have to endure these horrible pains. This is why I can’t control my BP because a diuretic is the first thing they give you the minute you need a pill. If your Uric Acid is high, run from that pill.
