(IndyStar.com) — We are fascinated by the British research indicating that a glass of beet juice can lower blood pressure for several hours (Hypertension, March 2008). In a later study, the same team found that this effect is more pronounced in men, especially those with higher blood pressure to begin with (Hypertension, August 2010).
It is not easy to find beet juice in the average supermarket. One reader found Biotta brand beet juice in 16-ounce bottles at a health-food cooperative market.
The reader drinks a glass several times a week and warned that it can make your urine and stool red.
Make your own beet juice! Anything you buy will be less effective and the taste will suck. Buy a Champion juicer or equivalent. (The Champion is still a bargain-can be found for $209 on the web-lasts a lifetime!) Juicing can help lower BP. Try carrot beet celery with a little ginger. A little beet juice goes a long way. start with a few ounces and build up.
Personally I use a Vitamix which pulverizes the entire fruit/vegetable for maximum benefits
how do you mix these product in a vitamix?do you add water or what?
Add to the raw vegestables [beets, celery, carrots, ginger]in the juicer described above, two cloves of garlic, one tomato, one apple, and a cup of kale. This [raw veggie] composition will be a health drink that will meet many if not all of your health needs. I have been doing this every evening now for more than ten years and having excellent health as a result.
@ Newton St John, what quantity of beetroot, celery, carrot, ginger do I use to make the juice. Hope it tastes a little bit nice. Tnx.
yes I agree, juice daily. I use the Greenstar juicer and every day I juice red chard/lacinto kale/celery/parsley/beet/carrots/apple (add the apple for sweetness).
I used to juice but for years now,I use the Garden Trio by AIM. The Trio comes with a jar each of juice of Barley leaves, Carrot and Beet Roots, all in Powder form. They are minimally processed and I found them acceptable in place of juicing. Takes the mess out.To try the Trio or just the Beet Juice powder you can go to http://www.myaimstore.com/wisehealthoptions. I added this info just because many seem not to know where to get good Beet juice.
Fresh juice is very good for you. Unfortunately for some people, some vegetables in concentrated amounts can give them nausea. Beet and celery are two of them which affect me this way. I can’t add them to carrot juice even though I love how it tastes! You can get beet juice freeze dried in capsules, though, which does not have the negative effects.
Ask your supermarket if they carry borscht – it is beet soup – usually found in the ethnic section and especially during the Jewish holidays as it is part of their traditions. Also, using a vitamix or blendtec will pulverize the entire vegetable – giving you ALL the vitamins/minerals as well as all the fiber.
What is wrong with just eating the whole veggie? They are great tasting and filling. I can make a meal of just beets a couple times a week, no salt nor pepper needed just a bit of butter or oleo.
Using all fresh juiced vegetables and fruit is nutricious healthy and cost you nothing.. Almost everything on the internet says Spend.. Follow your heart you will never go wrong.. What about grating fruit and vegetables..Thats a heart health job.. A great Cardio boost..tonic workout keeps the heart pumping..At times use your physical instead of all the food Equipments.. Too many household every ready machines… Our body is given to us by the Creator to take care of.. Not machines to take care of it.
Beet Root capsules (Nature’s Way) are very effective. I finally got my b/p under control when I started taking it. I did not stop my other meds, but have been able to cut back.
thanks will definetly do the juicing today. Am really grateful and will keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks once again.
There is no sense in buying beet juice. The juice must be from raw vegetables and fresh and you must drink it immediately. Otherwise the enzymes get lost.
I see so many folks are interested in juicing, I’ve been doing it a while, juicing and chopping up with a Vita-Mix, but just now getting back to doing that again; since Katrina hit us life has been very unsettled. Before Katrina BP was very well controlled, Since Katrina basically BP has been out of control, medications or diet didn’t seem to help, very eradic, but now with a more normal life, not completely, (still rebuilding) BP is in better control (consistently lower) but still up and down. Conditions of life can effect you BP regardless of diet and/or medications. Katrina killed my Vita-Mix, simply use food processor now to grind up the food (beets, carrots mostly) and juicer for the liquid form. Now that I am able to juice again BP will get better; it should.
