Q: Is there a link between high blood pressure and thyroid hormone replacement drugs?
A: Yes, with excessive thyroid replacement a person’s blood pressure can go up. This is one of the reasons blood pressure levels are periodically checked on people taking thyroid. Certain foods and beverages can interact with thyroid medicine. It is best to take this drug on an empty stomach.
I have suffered from high blood pressure for many years. After I started doing exercises recommended by the American Heart Assoc. it went way down. When not exercising for a long period it rises. Should I be taking medication.
I would keep exercising every day if you can and watch your diet carefully. Little or no animal protein, sodium, oils, alcohol and lots of fruits and vegetables has worked for me. Be especially careful with sugar. You should see a huge improvement in a matter of a few weeks.
Is it ok to take Synthroid, cytomel, and atenolol at the same time? I take them together in the a.m. on an empty stomach and then don’t eat for 1 hour. Please comment. Thanks.
