Q: I am a diabetic, are there any natural sources that will help control my glucose?
A: Watching what you eat and regular exercise are natural ways to help control diabetes. A diet of foods that gradually increase blood sugar makes it easier for your body to burn off sugar with activity. These kinds of foods have a low glycemic index. For more information about this click here.
There are lots of natural methods for lowering blood sugar. If you google “lower blood sugar naturally”, you may find some that will be helpful to you. I use cinnamon, for example, to lower blood sugar, as just one example. All the best!
Cinnamon has a few species such as, Cinnamom zeylanicum, Cinnamom cassia, Cinnamom thamala, Cinnamom burmani etc. Can you kindly tell me which species is the preferred one?
I just started cinnamon. My bottle says, “helps maintain blood sugar levels already within the normal range”. Don’t know if its doing anything or not, Time will tell.

Harvard Medical School studies have found that vinegar will help stabilize blood glucose.
vinegar has been found to be as effective as metformin… Most doctors have been using Metformin, a drug commonly prescribed for diabetes to treat PCOS for years. It appears to help women with PCOS by helping to regulate glucose metabolism in these women. When this is address this helps regulate insulin levels in the body.
What they don’t mention is that a natural remedy has been shown to be just as effective as Metformin. Ironically both studies have appeared in the same journal, Diabetes Care.
The natural remedy is vinegar. When subjects took apple cidar vinegar before meals showed the effects on glucose were just as good as antidiabetic medications such as metformin. And since metformin has been shown to cause digestive upset, nausea, and depletion of folic acid, the vinegar is a welcome substitute.
I use 1000mg Cinnamomum cassia and 100 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid daily. I was diagnosed as pre diabetic about 5 years ago and this has controlled my blood sugar. My sister was able to stop taking her medication after switching to the above and has had good control as well.
have blood sugar .do little exercise daily. go for walk and discontinued sugar in tea. will cinamon help me.
When taking Metformin, the only safe and effective diabetes drug, I knew to add sublingual B12 since Metformin lowers B12 a bit.
Nice to know to increase green vegetables with folate too. And I hope the folic acid in a multivitamin 400 mcg is enough to help with this too.
Cutting OUT soft drinks both regular and diet AND all high fructose corn syrup helps.
Gradually cutting way back on real sugar intake also helps.
Gradually stopping almost all refined grain intake helps. Cut grain intake in half or more at least and have it ONLY be 100 % whole grains.
Taking 200 mcg a day of chromium polynicotinate helps.
And, both strength training and interval cardio or playing sports where you get short bursts of vigorous effort slash blood sugar. Doing one of each 6 or 7 days a week every week works best.
1)Do anything and I mean anything which makes you sweat. 2)Make sure that you eat blueberries often or daily. It stabilises the blood sugar well.
