Q: What are some lifestyle changes that lower pressure?
A: Having a regular exercise program, eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, and maintaining a normal weight are key parts of a healthy life style. They will help keep blood pressure in control. Sometimes just having a healthy life style isn’t enough to prevent high blood pressure. Because of this, personally I use the Resperate. I am a big believer that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. A great site with tips about having a healthy life style is AmericaOntheMove.org.
All good but I would add that what did it for me was to cut out all wheat and processed grains.. In fact I gave up all grains for a good long while.. I’m not going to go into the biology- for that you can go to dr mercolas site-he gives a very good explanation as to why this helps. Bp. By controlling insulin/ blood sugar levels, one can avoid all kinds of diseases, including high bp, diabetes, heart disease etc. I also gave up potatoes for the most part and other starchy foods, eating mostly lean protein, healthy fats ( which really relaxed my heart! )and lots and lots of veggies, especially leafy greens.and raw salads. Juicing is a good idea. And of course,, plenty of exercise. I prefer hiking andi hike about 25 miles a week .these walks include some serious hills,so I try to get my heart rate up for at least 1/2 hour. The good air and beautiful scenery helps me destress. I can’t emphasize how effective this sort of diet an be.
