Q: Does iodized table salt increase blood pressure more than regular salt?
A: Iodine is added to salt to prevent thyroid disease. The presence of iodine in salt does not change the effect of sodium on blood pressure. To learn more about the many different kinds of salt and the importance of iodine to the body go to the web site for the Salt Institute.

Hi to all as I suffer with High Blood, Salt has been a no no for me, and as I have suffered with Heart problems which resulted in heavy Stenting,I had to take serious account of both my diet and also my salt intake, but dont get me wrong I am still a fit Man even though I have been through a lot,my reccomendations would be that if one is suffering with Hypertension etc is too have your Arteries checked for narrowing as a first requisit, and also check for Diabetes as I suffer with type II which is wrongfuly called Diabetes which it is not, also remember that your body also needs Salt but not the refined sort or for that matter anything of a refined nature,i personaly use a “HIMALAYAN PINK SALT” which is non refined and no “ADDITIVES” Nutritious-Natural minerals and trace elements which support body functions, also there is a serious problem with taking Blood pressure in the usual way and especialy at a Doctors Surgery,I am of the personal opinion that placing any strap around ones arm cuts off the Blood flow in the Arm and the logic is that it stops the flow of “Blood and causes the same effect as a river being Dammed which =
Pressure, I am also of the opinion that the Blood Pressure so called safe levels are far too Low and this is for a reason, the reason being that the trap is set by the Pharma Industry which demands that you must go on all of the Blood Pressure concoctions that the “Sell” through their outlets which Includes the Dr and his Clinic + the Chemists and the Hospitals, who are all owned by these organizations, its the same with weighing Scales no 2 are alike and you will get differing readings with each scales as used,so with regards too Blood Pressure i find that cutting out all “SUGAR” and eating a healty Diet + rest and excersise with serious amounts of laughing will help Blood Pressure no end, that is providing one does not have narrowing of the Arteries which in my humble opinion is the main culprit,i do hope that this helps people out their

Yes, they are getting lower and lower! I think in some quarters 115/70 or something like that is now regarded as “normal”.
On the other hand there are suggestions that the readings at the heart are actually lower than the readings on the arm. The result could be that some people may be diagnosed with high blood pressure and hence be put on medication when their blood pressure is “normal”.
I wrote once before that every patient should ask their doctor what his/her BP reading is. With 115/70 being the new standard probably all doctors would take some medication themselves.
Re: SALT INTAKE AND BLOOD PRESSURE
I have read that for those who do use some salt that, if you increase your water intake, you can flush the excess salt that may hinder blood pressure. (I personally do not add extra salt because I do not like its taste. I prefer adding pepper and capsaicin in many forms.)
I beleive that too many people are under-hydrated and that causes many problems. Yes, fluid build up raises pressure but types of diaretics can aid in keeping that under control. (Plus the exercise of running to the toilet must be certainly worth some help.)
Normal table salt, whether iodized or not, is terrible for the human body. It is basic in ph, and is hard on your entires system including the heart and circulatory system. Sea salt, himalayan salt, celtic salt, all of the normally mineralized salts are actually good for your system if not taken in excess. Sea salt is acidic.
A large percentage of patients with hypertension are not salt sensitive in any event. Sugar is the unspoken of culprit in hypertension. It triggers insulin, a pounding heart, and hypertension.
Anything refined and/or made in a factory that makes or modifies chemicals for consumption is something to be skeptical about!
All the best!!
