Q: In the past three months there has been a drastic reduction in the volume of ejaculated semen. I would estimate about 90%. My medications include: Coreg, Lipitor, Spironolact,Diovan, Lamictal, Klonipin and recently Wellbutrin which was discontinued two weeks ago. I am sexually active even though I am 86 years of age. Recent prostate readings were normal. Supplements include: B-12 injection monthly, 81mg aspirin daily, Omega 3, 1,00. mg daily, Preservision, 2 soft gels daily and Lutein: 20 mg daily. There have been no changes in these supplements. However, on April 13th I began taking the controversial Ginkgo Biloba, 120 mg. daily. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. As yet, I have not discussed this with my doctor.
A: The only thing you are doing differently is taking Ginkgo Biloba. That makes me suspicious that your problem is related to this supplement. A review of literature on Gingko Bilboa suggests that at high doses fertility may be lowered. A low ejaculate volume would lower your fertility. For more information on Ginkgo Biloba go to this article on the Mayo Clinic’s site.

i have read your e-mail and as a 60 year old female , i wonder where i can find a gentleman of your years who is still very very wow , il just say i dont think its pills that you need , maureen
I agree Maureen that pills aren´t the answer! I´d love to forego my Cozaar… Feel free to email me directly at
As you can see, I´m located in Málaga, Spain. What about you?
My thoughts are with this 86 year old. I´m 20 years his junior though about to reach my 67th on 16th June. I only take Cozaar 50 (Losartan) once a day at bedtime which has enabled me to keep my BP under control, i.e. 120/80. I try to lead an active sex life too but have noticed a much reduced ejaculate over the last 5 years, since being put on Cozaar by my GP. I put this down to my prostatism situation where my PSA reading is currently 7.73 As my wife has little libido left after her menopause, my inability to ejaculate as I did as a young man only affects me when masturbating myself!
Speaking of volume of ejaculate, I’m only 56, and have noticed a marked decrease of seminal fluid in the past few months. Is there a natural supplement or a prescription drug which will increase this? If you think that this question is not blood-pressure related, then you must not be a man who is concerned about his potency. Worrying about THAT will certainly elevate the blood pressure.
Lipitor is like poison if you want a love life do not take pilitor, try exersise and diet…
I totally agree. I suffered terrible side effects while on Lipitor from aching muscles and joints, loss of muscular strength, ED was very noticable, etc. By coincidence I switched to 3,750 mg of Norwegian fish oil from N3 Oceana Inc., 2400 mg of red yeast rice fron Far East dist both sold via Natural Wellness Formulas and 100 mg of CoQ10 from Costco. and all taken twice daily usually before meals. My total cholesterol dropped from 290-310 area to 170-180 range, HDL is 45 range and LDL in the 105 range. I went through a 90 day cleansing period before staying on this regime and have been doing extremely well for over ten years drug free. I have blood tests done annually. Walking an average of three hours per week total with about 30 min daily helps immensly with cardio, weight and fresh air revitalization. It’s great to be alive and healthy. This may not work for everyone but those I have recommended it to have had similar results as myself. Good luck and try to stay off drugs.
