Q: I have been of meds since February this year. Was on Rampiril but it did not agree
with me so they put me on Diovan 80mg which caused side effects. They lowered the dose to 40mg. Most side effects stopped except for tightness in chest, tongue and mouth tender and when walking up a hill, I am totally out of breath! Are these side effects typical of this medication? My bp was mostly normal with spikes every so often.
A: Yes, you are experiencing side effects that have been reported with Diovan. Sometimes a doctor has to try multiple medications before one drug or a combination of drugs is found that both controls blood pressure and is tolerable. Discuss your side effects with your doctor. One of the reasons I like the Resperate is the lack of side effects. Resperate use can be safely combined with a drug program for better blood pressure control without adding more side effects.

With resperae my BP has dropped from the120’s to 110’s and I have cut my medication in half. I’m hope to cut the meds even more in the near future. Maybe even drug free in time.

There are many, many ways to reduce slightly elevated blood pressure without resorting to drugs which do harm to a person. Resperate is one step. There is also diet and exercise, there are natural diuretics which do not rob your body of important minerals, there are natural ace inhibitors, there are relaxation techniques, EECP, infrared sauna, and the list goes on and on…..You won’t hear about any of them from Dr. Rowena’s answer writer!
Of course this “good doctor”, and her staff, suggest changing medication rather than whether you really need it. Typical, yet so unfortunate and irresponsible!
D. Carestia, I totally agree with you. BP in the 120s is no big deal anyway, and could very easily be controlled and brought down by simple, natural steps.
The British version of the AMA (BMA) seems to be as far in thrall to the pharmaceutical industry as their American cousins, and there seems to be really very little interest in alternatives.
I have a slow heart beat. I am on Felodipine 2.5 mg and sometimes I need to take 5 mg. If I buy Resperate, will it slow my heart even slower. I am high Systolic and low dystolic and the side effects are tiredness.
