Q: I have systolic hypertension. Take Amdolipene/Benz. My blood pressure aveages 127/43 with a heart rate of 45. I’m 66. Could that cause my inability to fall asleep again after only 4 hours sleep?
A: Difficulty sleeping is one of the most common reasons for a doctor visit. Modern medicine still has a lot to learn about the causes of sleep problems. The drug you are taking is a calcium channel blocker. Difficulty sleeping is not a common side effect of this medication. Discuss your sleep problem with your doctor. You may need additional testing to see if you have a common sleep disorder such as sleep apnea. To learn more about sleep disorders go to this article on WebMD.com
I had a sleep problem after they put me on a Beta Blocker, plus a calcium channel blocker. Doctor wanted to give me another drug to help me sleep I cut back on the Beta-Blocker slowly and my blood pressure went up for a few days and then leveled off at 120-78. I kept cutting back and that took care of my sleeping problem. I did this on my own as doctor wouldn’t help me. Truth is they had me on to much medication for my blood pressure. It is hard to get a doctor to work with you. once they get yr blood pressure down to the numbers they want they are done with you and the hell with the side effects.

I would not be too concerned with sleep presently. Your diastolic blood pressure and your heart rate are quite low. I think you should discuss this with your physician. Your present medication may be causing this. He may want to change your therapy.
I think you should follow-up with your physician so he can evaluate your situation.
looks like you can wean off those harmful medications if you are not overweight and exercise daily and eats loads of fresh raw fruits and vegetables and cut out animal fats. Don’t stop the meds without weaning off of them slowly as you can get a heart attack (great stuff isn’t it 😉
